These love bug cookies are a quick Valentine’s Day dessert that are perfect for classroom parties or a special lunchbox treat. You can whip out a bunch of these in about half an hour with just a few supplies.
Supplies
– Oreo Cookies
– Parchment paper
– Mini Candy Eyes (we also found some candy mustaches
– Red Chocolate Candy Melts
– Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate or Black Chocolate Candy Melts
– Small Ziploc bag
– Sprinkles – we found Valentine’s sprinkles at Michaels
Melt the red chocolate candy melts according to package directions. Dip 2/3 of the cookie into the red chocolate.
Lay the coated cookies out on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Before the red coating hardens, sprinkle the cookies with your choice of sprinkles. You might want to coat a few cookies, then sprinkle. Then coat a few more and repeat.
Warm up the darker chocolate or black chocolate candy melts and coat the remaining uncovered part of the cookie. Add two candy eyeballs and set back down on the cookie sheet.
Fill a small ziplock bag with some of the dark chocolate and snip the corner of the bag. Draw a line down the center of the cookie along the red portion of the cookie.
Pop them in the fridge so the chocolate will set and you’re done!
