Supplies for Decorated Easter Egg Oreo Cookies
– Package of Easter Egg Oreo Cookies
– Candy Melts in various colors (you can also just get the white candy melts and use different colored sprinkles)
– Sprinkles
– Microwave safe bowls
– Baking sheet covered in a sheet of parchment Paper
– Ziplock bag and scissors or icing decorating bag and decorating tips
Remove your Oreo cookies from the packaging and get them ready to decorate.
Cover a baking sheet with a sheet of parchment paper.
Pour your candy melts into a microwave safe bowl and cook according to the package directions. Usually you cook them for 1 min at 50% power then stir. Continue to cook them at 30-45 second intervals at 50% power until the candy melts have completely melted.
Place one of the Easter Egg Oreo Cookies on a fork and coat it in the candy melt. Let the excess chocolate drip off of the cookie before placing it onto the sheet of parchment paper to set.
Use sprinkles to decorate the cookies before the candy coating has hardened.
You can experiment with different decorating techniques. We filled a small ziplock bag with a few spoonfuls of candy melt and cut a tiny bit off of the corner of the bag to use it as a decorating tip. We used this to make the stripes on some of the cookies in a contrasting color.
You can also combine coat the cookie in one color then add a couple drops of a second candy melt color on top of the cookie while the candy melt is still pliable. Use a toothpick to swirl the colors around by drawing lines across the top of the cookie.
Whether your prepping for Easter or a fun lunchbox treat, these decorated Easter cookies are sure to please your Spring sweet tooth.
