- Mini Chocolate Chips
Packaging – optional
- Treat Bags – At least 4″ x 6″ to be safe
- Ribbon – to close up the treat bags
Unwrap all of your little Rice Krispie treats … OR for those of you that made your own, once the Rice Krispies have hardened, cut them into rectangles that are approximately 2″x3”.
Open all of your little Rice Krispies.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or non-stick mat.
Press your candy sticks or popsicle sticks into the bottom third of each of the Rice Krispie Treats.
Open up all of your toppings and place them in separate little bowls or plates so you can easily grasp them.
Cut the orange slices in half length wise then again into little triangle wedges.
Now it’s time to get down to business!
Melt your chocolate in a shallow baking dish or bowl according to the package directions. Do not overcook because the sugars will start to burn. We cooked ours for a minute on 50% power, stirred then repeated every 30 seconds until it was all melted and smooth.
Grab a dull butter knife to help you smooth out the chocolate as you work.
It really helps if you have a helper or two for this part since the chocolate hardens quickly. You could have one doing the coating and getting fingers messy and the next helper(s) applying the different candies on top.
We would coat one then place on the lined baking sheet to decorate. You might want to have a couple of lined baking sheets so you can keep them spaced farther apart to more easily place the eyes, mouth, etc without bumping the snowman next to the one you’re working on.
Let them cool completely before packaging.
You could remove the stick after they have hardened if you wanted to, or keep it in totally up to ya’ll!
If the chocolate starts to harden and get difficult to work with, pop it back in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time on 50% power and stir. Then get back to coating 🙂 Get creative, enlist little helpers and have fun!!
