How To Make A DIY Gingerbread Man Banner
Our kids absolutely love craft projects, especially around the holidays. We had a few kids over last week and I happened to have the supplies for this DIY Gingerbread Man banner post ready to roll. We opened up the gingerbread men and women 🙂 and told the kids to each decorate a few of the gingerbread people however they wanted. I really wish that I had picked up a few more packages of these foam gingerbread sheets because the kids were getting more and more creative with their designs as they continued.

This DIY Gingerbread Man banner would be a super fun classroom craft for teachers or holiday parties too. It can be paired with the one of our favorite books Gingerbread Man Loose At School
Supplies for Gingerbread Man Banner
Paint pens – We used paint pens to add details like outfits, accessories, hair and funny facial expressions. The ink from regular markers will rub back off onto your fingers so we suggest using paint pens. We love the Uni Posca Paint Pens. We’ve used them for a bunch of different projects and the colors have always shown up very vibrant. You can find them online but there are many other brands available online and at your local craft store.
Sing Hole Punch
3/8″ grosgrain ribbon
Foam Gingerbread cut outs – We found ours at the Dollar Tree. They are 8 inches all and come in a pack of 12 for … you guessed it $1! It says they are sold out online but we found them in store.
Enlist your little helpers and let them get creative. You might want to have cover your workspace or have them coloring on top of something like a paper plate. We were able to get any paint marker off of the table with a magic eraser but it really depends how porous your workspace is.
You can punch the holes in the arms of the gingerbread men before or after they start coloring. Then set them all aside to let them dry.
Once all of the gingerbread men are dry, add them one by one onto the 3/8″ grosgrain ribbon. We fed the ribbon through the top of one side, behind the ginger bread and up the other side then continued with the next little guy. I love all of the different outfits, expressions and designs the kids came up with.
