DIY Ruth Bader Ginsburg Lace Collar Face Mask
We made these lace collar face masks to honor Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, RBG, and all the amazing things she stood for and fought for. Her passion for standing up and fighting for what she believed in is something we can’t forget, especially now. One of my favorite RBG quotes,
“Fight for the things that you care about. But do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” – The Notorious RBG
This is the most simple DIY. I put them together while camping so I know you can pull this off at home 🙂
You only need a few supplies to put these masks together.
- Plain black face masks – I found plain black masks while at Target the other day. There are a ton of options on Amazon too. If you’re making it for a child, I would suggest getting a child sized mask. We found some solid black child-sized masks on Amazon.
- White lace trim ribbon – We found some lace trim in the ribbon section of Michaels.
- Fabric glue or sewing machine – We used liquid stitch, a permanent fabric glue that we found at Michaels. It’s also available on Amazon.
- Scissors
We suggest you prewash the masks before assembling them. Lay out the lace trim ribbon over the entire top of the face mask to estimate how long of a piece you’ll need. Cut a strip about an inch or two longer so you have some wiggle room just in case.
If you’re using a sewing machine. Lay the trim on top of the mask and slowly attach the top of the trim to your mask.
We used permanent fabric glue. Start putting a small line of glue on the mask and attach the flat edge of the trim to the mask but gently pressing it into the glue. Continue glueing the trim all along the top edge of the face mask.
Carefully trim the edges of the trim to line up with the edge of the face mask.
Allow the fabric glue to dry completely before handling or wearing.
