Lucketts Design House – Holiday Decorating Inspiration

This weekend we ventured out to Leesburg, VA to the Lucketts Holiday Open House and Holiday Design House.  The Design House is decked out from head to toe in garland, ornaments, decorative vases, candles, furniture and more.  Each room in this vintage home was decorated a little different.  Some featured darker plaid themes and handmade wool ornaments while others displayed crystal white garland with gold accented ornaments.  The unique thing about the Lucketts Design House is that everything in the house is actually for sale.  So you can roam around collecting your favorite decor items and them check out once you’ve exited the house.

We wanted to share some of the different holiday decorating inspiration in hopes that you might get some ideas that you’d like to incorporate in your decor this holiday season!

I love the use of plaid ribbon and simple garland around the chandelier.  I’m assuming that there were more of the garland rings around each lights earlier in the weekend before they got snatched up 🙂

We really liked how on this tree they used two different kinds of lights.  Strings of frosted globe lights were mixed in with tiny fairy lights.  It really added depth to the tree.

These old drawers caught my eye.  They were using them as storage bins, but you could also use it as a decorative tray or to hold items on your buffet when entertaining.

These decorations were very Anthropologie-esque.  They were circles of felt sewn together in a line and fixed to the ceiling.  This would be adorable as a decoration in your playroom.  You could do all white, ombre colors or different pastels.

If you made a bunch of these and hung them in a line at varying heights, you could use them as a backdrop for a fun holiday party photo booth or hang them behind a dessert or buffet table.

We are always looking for interesting ways to add different heights to the buffet or dessert table.  Storing your plates upright in decorative tins not only saves on space, but also adds dimension and a neat twist on the norm.

 

I need more holiday signs in my life.  You can use them to decorate your mantle, serving table and if you use the 3M removable hanging strips you can go to town decking those walls  for the season.

I know this sign isn’t a “holiday sign”, but i love it’s simplicity.  There’s no place like home 🙂

I love this wreath.  The big pinecones and mixed greens really wanted to come home with me.  Had i not just bought a few Hearth & Hand wreaths, he would have ended up in my bag 🙂

We’ve seen a bunch of these little brass frame ornaments now.  The Hearth & Hand with Magnolia at Target line carries a similar product.  I would love to fill them with a photo the kids have drawn, or a photo of the kids with the year on it.  I think they would look lovely if you trimmed the photos so when you put the picture in the little frame you could see a clear border around the photo.

These little white houses almost all came home with us.  I would love to put them all up on my mantle and create a little winter village.

You would not believe it.  On our way home from Lucketts, we stopped at Target and found similar houses in the “Bullseye Playground” formally known as the dollar spot area for $3 each my loves.  THREE DOLLARS EACH.  What?!?

They used these amazing flameless candles all over the house, but i’d never seen the tapered ones with the fancy fake flickering flame.

I think we are going to have to try something similar to these garland and bow valances.  Love the red berries with the plaid ribbon.

These sugar mold vases would make such a neat way to display silverware on a buffet table!!!!  I need to find a similar one at a lower price point 😉

I wanted at least 12 of these galvanized buckets.   These were a little big, BUT Target had smaller ones that were about the size of a vase in the Bullseye’s Playground area.  They are adorable 🙂

There were so many ideas packed into every room!! I promise next year that we will take even more photos to help jump start your holiday decorating.
